I love this time of year! Today was another amazing day in the Ill. Very relaxing and just an overall great day. This morning Arthur, Adam and I all slept in until about 11:30 or 12. We all caught up on some much needed rest and were energized for our ever-so eventful and physically demanding day. Okay, maybe I was kidding about the demanding part, but still. . . Anyways, we just kicked around the house and watched some football and munched on some vegetables and chips and dip. Great way to start off thanksgiving! After that, we just had some time to sit around and read while Mrs. Cook was preparing some of our dinner.

We then headed over to some family friends of the Cooks, the Sandersons. Mr Sanderson used to play professional baseball for the Angels and Cubs and now is an agent for many professional athletes. Regardless, they have a very nice home in Deerfield. After admiring their beautiful home, we were introduced to a home full of fun, welcoming people that treated us all like family. Meeting and mingling with this loving, warm, Christian family was so much fun as everyone was so outgoing and genuine. After hanging out and getting to know a bunch of new friends, we had our thanksgiving dinner. It was amazing! So of course, we stuffed ourselves past the point of no return!

Afterwards, all the boys were sentenced to the kitchen to help with dishes since all the ladies had so graciously cooked us a spectacular meal. We had a great time washing and cleaning dishes as we all sang and danced along to some classic songs. When we had finished, we all decided to play a big game of Cranium, which the guys dominated! Nice try, ladies! To relax after such a rough afternoon, we all cuddled up (don't worry Kylie, I was just cuddling with A & A) and watched one of my favorite movies, Elf. Pretty much everyone left, but the boys stayed around and played some ping pong, darts, and just hung out with the Sandersons. What a great family that has been blessed so greatly, yet they pour out their blessings on others, like us. I felt so grateful for them to have us all over and for them to share such a meaningful day. After leaving their house, we dropped by Trinity International University, where my Dad went to seminary. It was fun to see that place, again.

Anyways, the boys and I are just hanging out in Adam's basement now, talking, laughing, making fun of one another, and just having the best time of our lives. I love these guys and we're so lucky to be with each other! Especially in the Chi!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

-Zach

Chi Town

Chicago

So pretty much the best day ever! For those of you who don't know - I'm in Chicago for Thanksgiving break! I'm staying with two of my roommates, Arthur and Adam (who is from Chicago). We've been anxiously awaiting this trip since July and have been stoked to get away from our Riverside lives to the Chi Town. So finally, very early this morning (12:25 am) our plane departed from Ontario. One very long nap and about four hours later we touched down in Midway, Chicago. The red-eye wasn't terrible, but we all had our fair share of head bobs on the way back to Buffalo Grove, Ill.

The drive from the airport to the Cook's residence was fun. The weather was cold and rainy, which I absolutely love because it is so unlike typical southern California weather. The changing of color in the leaves is something I have never seen before and it definitely amazed me. A quick little pit-stop, and just the beginning of our "horizontal expanding," we stopped in at an amazing breakfast joint called Walker Bros. Giant, fluffy omelets sided by hash browns, thick bacon strips, and chocolate chip pancakes (which I had) filled our small table. Mmmm!

After a little roommate nap in the Cook's basement, we were all re-energized and ready to cause some trouble. We headed out of BG and straight towards the windy city itself. We kicked around ESPN Zone for about and hour or so as Arthur and I took turns beating up on Adam in some sweet video/arcade games. After that, we walked around downtown, wandering in and out of shops and trying to keep out of the puddles and out of the path of some crazy drivers too. We got to see Lake Michigan, which could have easily been mistaken for the Atlantic. Downtown was super busy and so much fun and I wish we could have spent a little more time meandering through the fast-paced life.

Well, despite our already eventful day, it got better! Adam's parent's had a huge surprise awaiting us! They took us towards Wrigley to the Briar Street Theater. Through the doors was an amazing act by the Blue Man Group!!! Our seats were in the fourth row and we got to experience the experience right in front of our eyes! It was AWESOME! Wow, so sweet!

Finally, we got some pizza from Lou Malnati's. Nothing beats some good, deep-dish Chicago style pizza! Oh, and while we were eating, it started snowing! How awesome! When we finished eating, we decided to go over to Brandon Hutchin's house (one of Adam's friends) and go hang out in his jacuzzi for awhile. Sitting in the hot tub with snow falling onto my tounge just put a cap on my amazing day! I'm so excited to be in such an awesome place with my best friends!

-Zach
